dc.description.abstract Cadmium sorption on the hematite-electrolyte solution interface was studied in a wide range of pH and Cd2+ concentration by means of potentiometric titration and measurement of cadmium content in the solution. Computer simulation of the experimental data was carried out using the model of an electric double layer of constant capacitance and a simplified thermodynamic model. In this paper, we briefly address the structure of the surface and adsorption layer and main characteristics of ion sorption on the surface of ferric oxides. The application of computer modeling to cadmium distribution in natural environments is illustrated.
