dc.description.abstract | Analysis of the evolution of Phanerozoic stratigraphic complexes of the western margin of the East European craton (EEC) and the Central European Platform (CEP) shows that their formation depended on the corresponding geodynamic environment - opening and closing of the Iapetus Ocean and the Atlantic, movement of the East European lithospheric plate, processes of regional extension and compression, global changes in sea level and the like. The regional geodynamic environment, closely related to subglobal and global geodynamic processes, markedly affected the evolution of the cratonic rock complexes. Their evolution was controlled directly by rifting, seismic and volcanic activity, climatic change, marine transgression and regression, upwelling and other factors. That is why certain stratigraphic complexes with characteristic rock parageneses can be said to reflect geodynamic events on a regional, subglobal or global scale. In the western part of the EEC, such complexes include the Ordovician and Silurian clastic-carbonate complexes; the Vendian and Devonian volcanic and volcanic-sedimentary Complexes; the Devonian and Lower Permian evaporates; the Carboniferous, Middle Jurassic, upper Oligocene and lower to middle Miocene coal-measures; and the Cretaceous and Paleogene siliceous-glauconitic phosphate-bearing complexes. | |
