dc.description.abstract | Information on lithology, trilobites, and ostracodes from some sections of the Volkhov and Kunda horizons of the Volkhov structural-facies zone (the eastern part of the Leningrad region) is presented. Described in the paper are two types of sections of the Volkhov Formation, which are exposed in a quarry near the Babino Village at the right bank of the Volkhov River, as well as the section occurring in the trench north of the Zvanka Village at the left bank of the Volkhov River, where formations of the Kunda Horizon are exposed in a single succession. The biostratigraphic subdivision on the basis of trilobites (asaphides) is carried out. More than 30 species of ostracode assemblages are revealed. Three new ostracode species are described, and images of most representative ostracode and trilobite species are presented. | |
