dc.description.abstract The paper presents radiologic ages of various volcanic rocks of two regions, the Pontocaspian region and the Greater Kurile Ridge, obtained by track method of dating volcanic ash and tuff that was developed by the present authors. Efforts were concentrated on measuring the factors affecting the reliability of the rock datings. In most of the specimens impurities were also found of considerably greater age than the bulk of the sample. Ignoring this impurity results in a large and uncontrollable distortion of the real age.
