dc.description.abstract | New petrographic descriptions and analyses of the mica of glimmerite (or slyudite) and similar rocks found in xenoliths from explosion pipes, dikes and intrusives of the Central and South Tien Shan and East Pamirs are given. It is concluded that glimmerite generally forms metasomatically, from various rocks and at various depths in the lithosphere, including the upper crust. Corrections should be made in current petrographic handbooks, in which glimmerite is defined as an igneous rock. | |
