dc.description.abstract The meteorites of the Solar System can be divided into heliocentric and planetocentric. The heliocentric meteorites originated in the asteroid belt while the origin of the planetocentric meteorites is associated with the destruction of satellites of planets. Satellites are a natural 'product' of planets which occurred by separation from the fluid casing of the planet in the form of molten fluid silicate masses under the influence of centrifugal forces. On consolidation on the surface a stressed state arose within the satellite, expressed as explosive volcanism. Some satellites disintegrated as a result of this and formed planetocentric meteorites. Planetocentric meteorites are examined with reference to the planets of the solar system.
