dc.description.abstract Based on a large body of data collected during many years of monitoring the chemistry and evolution of the Verkhne-Yuriev Springs (Paramushir I.), it is shown that the chemistry of the Yuriev River water is controlled by these springs below their discharge area. The acid water of the river (pH < 2) removes large amounts of Al, Fe, Mn, Zn, Cu, and some other chemical elements into the Sea of Okhotsk. The specific removal of metals from the Yuriev River drainage area, including part of the slope of Ebeko Volcano, is ten times higher than the average ratio of the ionic discharge of these elements for the territory of Kamchatka and the Kuril Islands, and hundreds of times higher than this value for the Earth's continents.
