dc.description.abstract This paper deals with the process of the development of a viscoplastic envelope around a magma conduit and an accompanying hydrothermal system. It is estimated that the discharge of hot water at the surface (possibly as steam) may be as high as hundreds of cubic meters per day. According to the model presented here, the formation of the viscoplastic envelope is related to periodic magma injections facilitated by a significantly nonstationary thermal regime.
