dc.description.abstract The transition from uniserial to multiserial forms in the evolution of the bryozoan order Cheilostomata resulted from the change from a proxipetal sequence of development of buds in zooids to a distopetal. Possible morphogenetic mechanisms of this transformation are discussed.
