dc.description.abstract Application of chamber-column system of mining has been considered. Experiments with such systems during mining the thick seam of coal have been performed. Results of the experiments have been discussed. Quantitative parameters of the system have been determined. Criterion of step of caving the main roof has been found. Use of ground technological parameters and monitoring the selected stages of manifestation of rock pressure make it possible to improve efficiency safety of mining. Case of mining the seams of coals with difficult-to-cave roof has been considered. Opportunities for providing the minimal losses of coal have been discussed.
