dc.description.abstract | Information on Paleocene deposits of Western Siberia is scarce and fragmental. The palynological analysis of new materials is important therefore, and the data obtained can be used in stratigraphy and for interregional correlation and reconstruction of paleoenvironments of the Paleocene. A palynological assemblage of the late Danian Spinidinium densispinatum Zone characterizes deposits of the Talitsa Formation. In a wide time range ofthe Cerodinium speciosum Zone, three levels of microflora are distinguished. The lower Alterbidinium circulum and middle Isabelidinium viborgense levels are established in the late-middle Selandian, and the upper Cerodinium medcalfii level is within the late Selandian-early Thanetian interval. As is inferred from analysis of Paleocene palynological assemblages characteristics of marine and continental deposits, the climatic zoning was untypical of the Paleocene, and the West Siberian and Arctic seas have not been connected in the late Talitsa time. | |
