dc.description.abstract A comprehensive statistical analysis of mineral species symmetry leads to definite conclusion that rare minerals possess in average the lower symmetry than widespread ones, so that the most stable and abandoned minerals are characterized by higher symmetry. As far as all the recent discoveries of new minerals belong to rare and very rare mineral species, a fraction of the latter is increasing and mean (reduced) symmetry index is decreasing with time. In other words, the average symmetry is slowly decreasing with rise in mineral species diversity. Generally, the irreversible process of rare mineral formation obeys the principle of minimum dissymmetrization. On the other hand, the reduced symmetry indices are strongly decreasing with consequent transition from cosmic materials (meteorites, lunar rocks) to solid Earth substances and from planetary interior (core, mantle) to Earth crust. In the same time, this course of the planetary evolution is connected with pronounced loss of entropy and rise of ordering of solid substances composed lithosphere. This is supplemented by withdrawal of entropy from solid to upper liquid (oceans) and gaseous (atmosphere) shells of the Earth and further - to surrounding cosmic space.
