dc.description.abstract Research was carried out into the water and carbon dioxide regime during the charnockitization of gneissic complexes. It was shown that CO2 plays a considerable role in the dehydration of metapelites and biotite-bearing gneisses with the formation of parageneses typical of enderbites and charnockites. The activity of H2O during the charnockitization of metapelites and gneisses does not always decrease, but even increases in a number of cases. Besides the H2O and CO2 regimes, the chemical potentials of fully mobile alkalis also play a significant role in the charnockitization of gneissic complexes.
