dc.description.abstract Southeastern Russia is characterized by considerable potential coal and brown coal resources. Paleogene to Neogene brown coals and Lower Cretaceous bituminous coals appear to be well developed (Khabarovsk, Bazovsky and Mukhen coal deposits, Bureya coal field in the Khabarovsk Territory, as well as Svobodny, Tynda and other deposits in the Amur Region, and Bikin, Pavlovsky coal deposits and Razdolny coal field in Primorye). In the southeastern Siberian platform among Riphean to Cambrian sedimentary complexes widespread are shales and bituminous limestones which are compared with bituminous coals of East China as non-traditional targets and possible hydrocarbon raw material for power and chemical industries in future.
