SERPUKHOVIAN STAGE STRATOTYPE IN ZABORJE QUARRY (MOSCOW REGION): PART II. SUBAERIAL EXPOSURE PROFILES AND CYCLICITY
Аннотация
Muratovka Paleokarst at the top of Venevian and Dashkovka Paleosol at the top of Steshevian are described in Zaborje Quarry. The Dashkovka profile is classified as a durisol with near-surface calcrete hardpan. The pre-Moscovian subaerial profile developed upon Protvian limestones is briefly described. Nodules in nodular Venevian limestones appear to be the product of early freshwater lithification, and their earlier intraclastic interpretation has to be rejected. In addition to previously recognized large-scale cyclicity, the Zaborje section exhibits smaller-scale deepening-shoaling cyclites. The lower Serpukhovian (Tarusian-Steshevian) cyclite consists of 4 or 5 smaller-scale cyclites. Preserved in Zaborje lowermost part of the upper Serpukhovian cyclite contains at least one smaller-scale cycle.
