dc.description.abstract An assemblage of Lower Eocene nummulitids is established here for the first time from the Sullukapian Formation, which has been referred to the Upper Paleocene. A new species, Nummulites akorpensis sp. nov., which was previously identified as Nummulites fraasi Harpe, is described. The new species differs from N. fraasi by the more uniformly and rapidly untwisting spire and more curved septa. Brief characterization of the associated species Nummulites panteleevi Nemkov is given.
