dc.description.abstract Carbon is an ubiquitous and active participant in the diversity of reactions proceeding at the Earth’s surface and in its interiors. The wide application of thermodynamic simulations in Earth sciences during the past three decades provided a deeper insight into the processes that are related to physicochemical interactions in the water–rock–gas–organic matter system, a fundamental system of the Earth’s crust.
