Аннотация

One of the most complete sections of Permian deposits in the southern Urals is described. It spans the middle Asselian-Artinskian interval and yields fusulinids, ammonoids, and conodonts. The upper half of the Uskalyk Formation is shown to be correlative with the upper zone of the Asselian Stage. Ancillary evidence obtained is in favor of lowering the boundary between the Asselian and Sakmarian stages from the Kurmaya Formation top to its upper third at least. On the basis of ammonoids distribution, the boundary between the Sakmarian and Artinskian stages is shown to coincide with that boundary established in the Kondurovka section. In addition to the latter, the section under consideration can be recommended as the international boundary standard, i.e., the Global Stratotype Section and Point (GSSP).
