The minerals and mineral associations formed by low temperature thermal metamorp-hism of redeposiled products of the old crust of weathering are studied on the example of contact aureole of Karatashsky granitoid massif (east slope of Kuznetsky Alatau). The original correlation of chloritoid composition with that of the enclosed rocks is revealed. The high-alumina chloritoids arc stable in high-alumina rocks and their content in the rocks is maximum. The equations of chemical reactions of biotite and chloritoid formation are given on the basis of the real compositions of coexisted minerals. Chloritoid and stau-rolite stability at the contact aureole of Karatashsky massif is the result of the original chemical composition of the initial politic depositions rich in alumina and iron and characterized by the high pressures of metamorphism.
