Yttrium arsenate Y[AsO4], chernovite, is a rare mineral discovered in 1966 and named in honor of A.A. Chernov, a prominent researcher of geology and mineral resources of the European northern region of Russia. He organized the Institute of Geology of Komi Research Center in Syktyvkar and worked there from 1942 to 1961 [2].
