The epochs of formation, geodynamic setting and sources of rare-metal magmatism in Central Asia were discussed. It was found that in the late paleozoic-early mesozoic epoch, intraplate activity persisted but the area of intraplate magmatism probably decreased owing to the descent of cold lithospheric material into the superplume region. The process of Asiam plume degradation was found to continued in the late mesozoic and attained the maximum in the early cenozoic.
