The results of paleomagnetic studies of moraine deposits are analyzed. The observation data imply that moraine beds display a considerable scatter of magnetization vectors regardless of the rock age. It is inferred that the anomalous magnetization vectors recorded in moraines might be caused not only by geomagnetic excursions, but also by the specific conditions of magnetization of the moraine beds. Opportune examples are given to show that the granulometric composition of the magnetic fraction in moraines can serve as one of the factors determining these conditions. Statistically justified reversed magnetizations were detected in the exposures of the Pleistocene moraines.
