Assemblages of organic-walled phytoplankton from Paleocene deposits of the Volga lower reaches are analyzed. Five palynological assemblages distinguished in the borehole section are well correlative with those from coeval deposits of Denmark and Belgium. A break in sedimentation spans the late Danian-early Selandian interval at the boundary between the lower and upper Syzran' subformations.
