This paper presents the results of monitoring the post-eruptive phase of the January 2-3, 1996, subaqueous eruption in the Akademii Nauk caldera, Kamchatka. Minerals that were being newly deposited on the cooling erupted rocks were investigated near the subaqueous eruptive center. Radon concentrations were measured in gaseous emanations. Successive changes were recorded in the algal flora of Lake Karymskoe.
