This paper deals with the distribution of surface slip along seismogenic faults. Fault types having different slip distributions were identified. Factors that can affect this distribution were examined. It is shown that slip nonuniformity should be taken into account when estimating paleomagnitudes using the slip magnitude, especially when slip is known at few points.
