Essential differences between the bryozoans of the order Fenestellida and those of other Paleozoic orders and Mesozoic-Cenozoic stenolaemates are shown based on the comparative analysis of their morphology and functions. The characters of fenestellids that are either common or close to those of other Paleozoic bryozoan orders and Mesozoic-Cenozoic eurystomes are considered to show the necessity of placing this order in the class Eurystomata.
