Alkali basalt-comendite associations are a typical rock type of rift-generated structures and are known both in continental regions (the Basin and Ridge Province of the U.S., and in Mongolia) and in island-arc regions (Kamchatka). An extensive belt of Upper Paleozoic alkali basalt-comendite volcanic rocks has recently been found in the Mongolia-Okhotsk zone in northern Mongolia. The southern Gobi belt of alkalic rocks also includes basalt-comendite-alkali granite volcanoplutonic associations with an associated rare-metal mineralization. Authors investigations in the Vershino-Darasunskiy ore region have obtained the first geological and geochemical data on the Jurassic trachybasalt-comendite-alkali granite volcanoplutonic association of northeastern Transbaikalia, whose further study will be of petrologic and metallogenic interest.
