The development of the Tyumen gas fields requires much improved mathematical models for prediction, optimization and regulation of gas extraction. These models should, on the one hand, take the fullest possible account of the physical processes taking place in the pool, and on the other hand should be adjustable to adapt to new data on oilfield extraction characteristics. We describe an adaptable three-dimensional two-phase model of percolation of gas and liquid in a nonuniform porous medium, intended for use in the analysis and forecasting of water-drive operation of large gas fields.
