Pyrite is one of the principal concentrators of gold in most types of commercial ores. There is an interest in studying the mechanism by which gold is concentrated and the forms in which it occurs in pyrite. The authors investigated the local distribution of gold in pyrite by activation autoradiography. They studied carbonaceous clayey-carbonate shales of the Baikal-Patom region which are high in pyrite. The paper presents their results of the spatial distribution of gold in pyrites formed in various stages of the ore process, ranging from sedimentary to hydrothermal.
