SEDIMENTS OF LAKES IN LENINGRAD REGION AS THE CHRONICLE OF BALTIC LEVEL FLUCTUATION

Abstract

The paper gives a comprehensive survey of the materials on sedimentation in the lakes of Leningrad region. On the strength of the new data on the structure of bottom sediments the authors conclude that sedimentation conditions had undergone a drastic change in late Pleistocene and Holocene. The chronological boundaries of the transgresses and regresses of the Baltic area and Ladoga Lake in Holocene have been defined more precisely.
