A new seismometer design based on the interaction of the sensor component of the instrument with the earth's magnetic field significantly broadens the range of frequencies recordable by a single instrument. This design does not contain moving elements or a pendulum system, and its range of recordable oscillations is more than an order of magnitude greater than that of standard instruments. Moreover, this instrument can be used simultaneously to record both seismic wave processes and seismoelectric phenomena. The paper discusses testing of the instrument and test results.
