Using gravimetric observations for studying the most intensive and hazardous technological processes in open-cast ore mining is discussed. The possibility to use gravity exploration in detecting zones of de-compaction of rocks, studies of their movement, outcropping, predicting gaps and craters at the Earth's surface and for measuring variation of the underground water level near active quarries is discussed, using some model and practical examples.
