One of the tasks of the 'Lithos' project is to identify the global relationships between the geochemical features of igneous rocks and the structural type of the lithosphere, as well as its geological history. Provided such relationships are reliable, they could be used as a basis for geochemical mapping of the lithosphere. In this paper the authors attempt to analyze the data on the geochemistry of volcanic rocks on the ocean floor from that point of view.
