A section of Cenomanian-Santonian deposits in the Transaltai Gobi (southwestern Mongolia) is described and analyzed. In lithological features and composition of ostracode, mollusk, and charophyte assemblages these deposits are correlative with the Bain-Shire Formation of the Khara-Chutul reference section in the eastern Gobi. The studied counterpart of the Bain-Shire Formation is very complete and can be considered as a reference section for the western Transaltai Gobi.
