APPLICATION OF M8 EARTHQUAKE PREDICTION TECHNIQUE IN KAMCHATKA: A SUCCESSFUL LONG-TERM FORECAST OF THE DECEMBER 5, 1997, EARTHQUAKE

Abstract

A preprocessing method for regional and worldwide catalogs is proposed for the real time application of the M8 earthquake prediction technique to Kamchatka seismicity. A retrospective test of the technique and a successful forecast of the December 5, 1997, magnitude 8 Kamchatka earthquake are discussed.
