The present work, we synthesized germanium-containing quartz crystals from 0.5N NaOH solutions by the thermal gradient method, at crystallization temperatures from 270° to 670°C and a pressure of 1.6 kbar. The experiments yielded quartz crystals that were identical in appearance and lattice structure to ordinary crystals of synthetic quartz grown in the alkaline solutions.
