Аннотация

Mesozoic intraplate continental basaltic volcanism at the Franz Josef Land (FJL) archipelago is related to the activity of the Iceland plume [1, 2]. The volcanic activity was less significant but genetically close to the Permian-Triassic plateau basalt magmatism in eastern Siberia. New data on the geology of the islands and on petrology and geochemistry of basalts were obtained during long-term systematic investigations of the FJL archipelago by the All-Russia Research Institute of Geology and Mineral Resources of the World Ocean [3, 4]. The results of these investigations provide insight into the tectonic evolution of the Arctic region.
