NOVO-BAKENING VOLCANO OF KAMCHATKA: ITS AGE AND TEPHRA STRATIGRAPHY

Abstract

Based on tephrochronological studies the Novo-Bakening Volcano was dated Early Holocene, and its Holocene activity was reconstructed. A composite section was compiled for the tephra of the area with the description of individual tephra units. The tephra markers were used to refine the propagation of ash from a number of very large volcanic eruptions that had occurred in Kamchatka during the Holocene.
