The stratigraphic scheme for the Upper Cretaceous and Lower Paleogene of central Kamchatka is proposed based on the substantiated age of the Baraba Formation (late Campanian). Similar formations and sequences of the Sredinnyi (Median) and Vostochnyi (Eastern) ranges of the peninsula are correlated. The formation analysis and stratigraphic data are used to compile several paleogeographic schemes. The combined stratigraphic, petrologic, geochemical, and tectonic data constrain a new model of rifting in Kamchatka Peninsula during the considered pre-island-arc period.
