Accumulation conditions of largest (about 90% of known world reserves) amber deposits in the upper Eocene Prussian Formation of the Sambiiskii Peninsula, Kaliningrad region, is discussed. Microfossils and findings of amber, glauconite, and phosphorite are used to correlate local stratigraphic units of the late Paleogene in the Kaliningrad region, Belarus, Ukraine, Poland, and Germany, which correspond or are close in age to the Prussian Formation stratotype situated in the Sambiiskii Peninsula.
