A study of large earthquakes occurring within the Caspian Sea Basin revealed a certain pattern in their occurrence. At certain time intervals the epicenters of high-magnitude earthquakes occur at ring structures. Variations of these time intervals vs. the basement depth are exponential functions. The rise and fall of the Caspian Sea level are functionally related to the duration of the precursory period for a large earthquake and to the position of its epicenter relative to the basement.
