ON THE MORPHOLOGY OF CORDAITEâN FRUCTIFICATIONS OIKRYLOVIA SIBIRICA CHACHLOV FROM THE CARBONIFEROUS OF SIBERIA

Abstract

Revision of the type material of dispersed cordaitean fructifications of Krylovia Chachlov 1939 supports previously proposed morphological interpretation and its identity to the genus Samarospadix Neuburg, 1948 from the Carboniferous of Siberia. The typification of the genus is accomplished, its diagnosis and species composition are emended. A new reconstruction of these strobili is proposed. The seeds appear to be radially oriented in spite of the earlier suggested tangential orientation.
