The study of Paleozoic rocks in the easternmost exposed section and eastern foothills of the Polar Urals (Shchuch'ya synclinorium) in the Shchuch'ya River basin is of great importance for the description of the rock complexes that form the basal section in the western part of the West Siberian syneclise. These are primarily carbonaceous rocks that occur among the Paleozoic rocks of the Shchuch'ya synclinorium and can be considered oil source rocks.
