Distribution of some microelements was investigated in the surface layer of bottom sediments in the Seliger lacustrine system. Organic matter exerts an influence on Zn and Cd accumulation. An anthropogenic impact on the Seliger ecosystem was assessed from the degree of bottom sediment pollution with heavy metals. The highest pollution of the water reservoir was noticed for Pb and Cr.
