AGE AND COMPOSITION OF OPHILOITES FROM THE BASEMENT OF THE WEST SIBERIAN PETROLIFEROUS MEGABASIN

Abstract

Ophiolites are widespread in the basement of the West Siberian petroliferous megabasin, where they occur usually along large faults that separate different lithotectonic zones. Despite the widely admitted great significance of ophiolites for understanding the structure and evolution of foldbelts, ophiolites of West Siberia remain insufficiently studied because of unavailability of data on their age.
