The author's data on the migration and recurrence of great Pacific earthquakes, derived at the global scale of the Pacific belt and at the local scale of the northern Kurils-Kamchatka region, indicate that the southern Kuril M ≃ 8 earthquake of October 4, 1994, is likely to be a precursor of a great (M ≥ 7.6) event expected to occur in southern Kamchatka sometime in the late 20th to the early 21st century.
