Abstract

Explains the use of the prefixes hedrals in mineralogy. Use of the terms euhedral, subhedral and anhedral for igneous rock textures and with a certain genetic connotation; Introduction of the terms to define the nature of all crystals making up a particular rock; Common misuse of the terms in the gemological literature.
