This paper presents a concept of vibroseismic monitoring for earthquake-prone areas and the testing results of the estimation of relative variations in seismic wave velocities caused by earth tides at distances of 356 and 430 km. The variations were found to be as high as 10-5 to 10-6, which is an order higher than the values reported from other studies. This shows the vibroseismic method and our system for dealing with problems arising in active monitoring of earthquake-prone areas to be promising.
