PALEOMAGNETISM OF REFERENCE SECTIONS IN PLIOCENE-PLEISTOCENE DEPOSITS OF THE NW DONBAS

Abstract

This paper presents the results of paleomagnetic studies conducted on two reference sections of Pliocene-Pleistocene deposits in the NW Donbas. It has been established that the formation of the rock strata under study relates to the time interval corresponding to the Brunhes, Matuyama, Gauss and Gilbert epochs of geomagnetic polarity. Stratigraphic levels have been registered which can be used as benchmarks in referencing Pliocene- Pleistocene deposits in this region to the magnetochronological scale.
