The study of the chemical behavior of highly siderophile elements, including platinum group metals (PGM), is of great theoretical and practical significance for understanding the early differentiation of the Earth, mantle and core formation, and the conditions of PGM formation in mafic–ultramafic magmatic complexes. The experimental study of PGM solubility in silicate melts under different physicochemical conditions, together with geochemical investigation, plays an important role in the solution of this problem. Increasingly greater attention has recently been focused on the role of fluids in these processes.
